About us :

Olivier et Marielle CHAUTARD, are in their 30/40's and live in a farm foothills of the Pyrenees (Ariège) and in the heart of Cathare country.

The best decision we ever made was to take on the family farm.

On our farm, we made primarily breed sheep and angora goats.

We live each day in complete happiness knowing how lucky we are to live within the framework of nature : the seasons, the sun, the rain, the snows (There's always a reason Farmers talk about the weather !)

Our trade, is first of all a passion. Olivier is a true breeder at heart, recognizing all his animals, attentive with the least sign indicating that a goat is ready for lambing or is sick... this often requires much patience and effort.

Marielle, is impassioned for the creation and manufacture of the sweaters, jackets, coats...

But of what does this particular breeding consist ?

We have about fifty angora goats whose principal concern is to produce mohair.

Twice a year, we shear them because their hair grows very quickly and each adult goat produces 3 to 4 kg of mohair. The fleece will be sorted and classified in various categories of smootheness, length, cleanliness...

The mohair will then be entrusted to the best home-workers to be transformed into various yarns intended for weaving or knitting.

Lambing occurs in spring... if we are in April, look at this month on the farm.

The goats are greedy and appreciate the good hay, the corn with a small point and some brambles (but not too many). They love the tender grass and sometimes our neighbour's is irresistable ! They have really character.
